Large Metal Wire Basket

Baskets constructed with this specific rectangular shape and heavy diamond-crimped gauge wire were famously used as French oyster baskets. Fishermen used them to haul catches out of the water. The open mesh allowed water, mud, and debris to drain instantly while keeping the shellfish contained. A similar design was used domestically for harvesting root vegetables like potatoes.
